Busy May for Gundam GCG

Gundam Card Game is in the middle of a busy month for competitive players, with two major store-level circuits running at the same time. Newtype Challenge 2026 Mission 3 is live from May 1 to June 30, while WCS 26-27 Store Championships Season 1 runs from May 2 to May 31.

That already makes May an important testing window, but the format got a little more interesting after last weekend’s Montreal Regional. The event was won by Steven L., who finished undefeated with a Blue/White League Militaire deck.

That result stands out because Blue/Purple has been the deck everyone expected to beat over the last few weeks. Instead, Montreal gave Blue/White a big headline win and showed that League Militaire might be more than just a new-set curiosity.

With store championships and Newtype Challenge events still running, this is a pretty good moment for Gundam’s early meta. Blue/Purple is still the obvious target, but Montreal proved there is room for surprises.
