Dragapult Ends the Japanese City League Season on Top
Japan's City League season ends with Dragapult ex on top, matching the deck’s recent dominance across major international events.

PokecaBook shared what looks like one of the final meta updates of the 2026 City League season, and the headline is pretty familiar by now: Dragapult ex is still at the center of the format.
That lines up with what we have been seeing outside Japan too. Dragapult recently won both Melbourne Regionals and the Lima SPE, while also staying near the top of the field at other major events. Japan and the international circuit do not always move in the same direction at the same time, but this time the similarity is hard to ignore.

According to PokecaBook’s latest ranking, Dragapult is clearly ahead, while the rest of the field keeps shifting around it. Decks like Raging Bolt, Excadrill, Zoroark, and Lucario are still part of the conversation, but Dragapult looks like the one deck everyone has to prepare for first. Plently of playable decks, but one very obvious target at the top.
City League tournaments will resume in September.
