Gen Con Is a Big Weekend for Bandai Card Games

Gen Con is the main event this weekend, running through August 2 in Indianapolis. Bandai has a packed card game schedule there, including a Gundam and One Piece Regional, One Piece Treasure Cups, side events, and one of the first public chances to learn the new Naruto Card Game.

The headline for Gundam players is Friday's Gundam Card Game Regional. It is a constructed, best-of-one Swiss event with room for up to 512 players and no top cut. With GD05 and the latest restriction list now in effect, it should be an early look at how players are approaching the new format. Saturday and Sunday also have constructed side events, including 2v2 events for players who brought a teammate.

One Piece has its first Championship 26-27 Regional of Season 2 at Gen Con on Saturday, August 1. Treasure Cups on Friday and Sunday give the convention even more One Piece action around the main event.

There is also a small but exciting Naruto note. Bandai is running tutorials for the new Naruto Card Game, described as its first event where players can learn the game. Participants receive a special gift set that includes a purchase ticket for an exclusive playmat. It is not a tournament yet, but it is a fun first public step for the game.
