Mega Excadrill Debuts at the Top of the Online Field

For the first time in weeks, the Play Limitless online usage board has a new deck at No. 1. Mega Excadrill, a new card from the recently released Pitch Black, accounted for 7.9% of decks from July 20 to 27. The sample covers 5,541 decks across 81 online events. Usage share here means how many players brought a deck, not how it performed.

Their arrival coincided with the continued decline of N’s Zoroark. After spending a month at or near the top, its usage share fell from 8.6% to 8.5%, then 7.6% and now 4.6%.

Festival Lead tells a different story. This deck has climbed steadily for four consecutive weeks: from 2.4% to 3.8%, then 4.8% and now 6.9%. It sits second, just ahead of Dragapult Blaziken at 6.4%.

Dragapult still defines the field when its variants are considered together. The Blaziken, Dusknoir and standalone builds account for roughly 17% of decks, far more than any individual archetype. The balance between those builds shifted this week, however: Blaziken gained ground while Dusknoir fell from 7.1% to 5.6% and the standalone version slipped from 6.2% to 5.1%.

Almost nothing at the top of the table stood still. Alakazam Dudunsparce was one of the few exceptions, moving from 4.5% to 4.9%. Elsewhere, established decks lost usage: Slowking declined from 5.5% to 4.2%, while N’s Zoroark and the two Dragapult variants also went down.

The leading deck is below 8%, while eight archetypes are between 4.6% and 7.9%. Mega Excadrill may hold the top spot, but there is no dominant deck to call "top tier."
