Japan’s Lorcana Set Championship data puts Amber/Steel far ahead, even as recent DLC results have shown a more open field.

Amber/Steel Leads Japan’s Lorcana Set Championship Meta

Takara Tomy shared the Week 5 metagame report for Japan’s Disney Lorcana Set Championship season, covering events from June 1-7, and the big takeaway is that Amber/Steel is still the deck to beat there.

Across more than 70 Set Championship events, Amber/Steel made up 26.0% of winning decks, far ahead of the rest of the field. That is a stronger lead than what we have seen from recent Disney Lorcana Challenge results, where the winning decks have been more split.

At Dortmund, for example, the two Challenge events were won by different archetypes: Amethyst/Emerald won the first event, while Amber/Steel won the second. UK Games Expo also went to Amber/Emerald Dogs, another deck that shows up near the top of Japan’s report.

That makes the Japanese data interesting. It is not completely disconnected from the larger competitive scene, since Amber/Steel, Amber/Emerald, Amethyst/Steel, and Amethyst/Ruby are all familiar names. But Japan’s Set Championship results make Amber/Steel look much more clearly ahead, with Amber/Emerald and Amethyst/Steel tied for second at 11.0% each.

Amethyst/Ruby followed at 9.6%, while Ruby/Sapphire, Amethyst/Sapphire, Emerald/Steel, Sapphire/Steel, Amber/Amethyst, and Amethyst/Emerald rounded out the Top 10.

So the story is not just "Amber/Steel is good." We already knew that. The more useful read is that Japan’s local Set Championship scene seems more concentrated around Amber/Steel, while the larger DLC results we’ve followed have been a little more open at the top.
