Play! Pokémon Clarifies Reprint Rules
Play! Pokémon’s Q2 rules update clarifies when reprinted cards become tournament legal, helping avoid prerelease confusion around already-legal cards.

Play! Pokémon has updated its rules and resources for Q2 2026, and one of the more relevant changes for TCG players is a clarification around reprinted cards.
The reason is probably to address situations like Poké Pad from Perfect Order. The card was already part of the format, but the new Perfect Order print appeared in prerelease product before the set’s official release. That created some confusion over whether players could use the newer copy before the set was live.

The updated rules help make that cleaner. Reprints of already-legal cards can be used once the product officially releases, but pulling a copy early from prerelease product does not make that version legal ahead of time. With new sets and prereleases constantly feeding cards into the scene, knowing exactly when a reprint becomes tournament legal can save players from an awkward deck check.
